PARTS OF A VIBRATING SCREENER

Drive Motor The drive motor or vibration motor is responsible for the motion that moves the material to be sifted around. Some screeners are designed to produce a back and forth motion, while other screeners are circular motion. The idea is to get the material to bounce around on top of the screen. It is hoped that it will hit the screen many times as it travels the length of the screening material. With each hit, the material will be screened further with the goal of all of the desired material to be filtered out by the end of the process at the discharging of the screening material. Coarse Material Feeder The course material feeder is where the material that you are processing is fed. Usually, the material has just finished being crushed, so it will usually travel by a conveyor belt to the screener to be processed. If you are using an inclined plane screener, the material will be conveyed to the top and then it will use gravity to help it screen on its way down. Screen Deck The screen deck is where the material is fed and then where it sits unless it is screened out, in which case it usually falls to the bottom, or to another screen deck. When you have a double or a triple deck, you are allowing your material to be screened multiple times at the same time, saving time, effort, energy, and money. Usually, the top screen has the biggest holes and then the material falls to a bottom screen and is continually processed in increasing smaller pieces until the desired material is obtained. Screeners are chosen based on the material you are screening. On the outside, this looks relatively easy; after all, you just choose a screen with the appropriate size. However, screens are usually chosen based on a complex algorithm in order to get the best results with the least amount of pass throughs. Every screen is chosen and designed to obtain the desired output, using the application, ore characteristics, lump size, material properties, and tonnage. Screened Material Discharge Once the material has been sifted, it then is sent out through the discharge end. This material can be sifted again (and often is) using either a different type of screener, or it may be crushed again and then sent back through the same screener. It all depends on the material that you are processing. Miscellaneous Parts These are the major parts that comprise a screener. However, there are many miscellaneous parts that help make a screener function properly. These include spring, bearing, plates, and rivets, as well as a belt for the motor. There may be rollers involved, hydraulic pumps, wire meshes, harp screens, and more. All of these must be maintained for the optimal functionality of a screener.
