What is a Telehandler?

A Cat telehandler is a very useful heavy machine you will find in industry and in agricultural applications. Boom Lift & Tilt Cylinders These cylinders are the parts responsible for moving the boom arm of your telehandler. Most operate from hydraulics, which uses hydraulic fluid that is pressurized inside a cylinder barrel where a piston and piston rod move. The barrel (or the tube you see) has a cap on one end and a cylinder head on the other. The piston moves back and forth from the cylinder head, effectively moving the boom arm. Most Cat telehandlers are equipped with devices known as outriggers that hold the machine down in order to prevent the tippage of the machine. Chassis The chassis is just a fancy name for the frame and the main support of a vehicle. The chassis is usually what all of the other major component parts are attached to, such as the operator's cab in a telehandler, the wheel axle assemblies, the brakes, the wheel hubs, the drivetrain, and the suspension system. All heavy equipment has a chassis. For telehandlers, you can choose from two types of chassis, the articulated or the rigid chassis. The rigid chassis you will find in pallet work, and the articulated chassis, which is usually built on a heavy duty chassis, is made for earth-moving work.
